Technological Foundation

The development of the AI-based fashion app was anchored on a robust technological stack:

  • DevOps & Tools: Leveraged AWS EC2 with GPU, S3, RDS PostgreSQL, and GitHub Actions for deployment, monitoring, and continuous integration.

Project Phases and Methodologies

Research & Discovery Phase

The initial phase focused on validating the concept and key user journeys. The aim was to experiment with AI models capable of garment detection, classification, and personalized styling. This phase also involved designing a scalable architecture and data strategy to ensure future growth.

Minimum Viable Product (MVP) Phase

Within a three-month timeframe, the MVP phase saw the creation of a React Native mobile app. This app empowered users to photograph, digitize, and organize their wardrobe effectively. AI was integrated to recommend personalized outfits and identify potential missing pieces in a user’s wardrobe. Key features included:

  1. Create My Wardrobe: Users can digitize their clothing collection.
  2. Style My Look: AI-generated outfit recommendations based on personal style preferences.
  3. Complete the Look: Suggestions for complementary pieces to enhance outfits.

Impact and Results

The R&D phase successfully validated technical feasibility, providing accurate estimates for the MVP effort. In just three months, the MVP demonstrated a complete product cycle—from photo upload to AI-generated outfit recommendations. The potential to reduce return rates and increase user engagement through deep personalization was convincingly proven. Additionally, a scalable foundation was established for future enhancements such as retailer integrations, virtual try-ons, and advanced wardrobe tagging.
